ABOUT BASE
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an intern to join Base's Commercial Partnerships team, which supports the day-to-day success of our partners. These partnerships have introduced thousands of homeowners to Base and continue to scale rapidly each week. During your internship you'll be tasked with important problems for the business and expected to deliver just like any other full-time member of the team.
You'll work on two fronts: supporting the day-to-day success of our existing partners, and helping target, analyze, and stand up new partnerships. On the existing side, that means market and competitive analysis, reporting, and problem-solving that keep our partners performing and motivated to win alongside us. On the new side, that means identifying prospective partners, building the business case for why a partnership makes sense, and helping get it off the ground. This is a foundational team that sees the entire lifecycle of a channel partnership and coordinates across sales, marketing, design, finance, product, deployment operations, and membership experience to make it work. You'll have direct visibility across the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Support market and competitive analysis to identify and evaluate new partnership and market opportunities for the Commercial Partnerships team.
- Build financial and business case models to size partnership opportunities, test assumptions, and support decisions.
- Help design and track go-to-market plans for launching new partnerships or expanding into new neighborhoods within existing partners' footprints.
- Build recurring reporting, dashboards, and check-ins that keep the team and partners informed and aligned on program performance.
- Turn strategic recommendations into action - work with sales, marketing, design, finance, product, deployment operations, and membership experience to move initiatives from analysis to execution.
- Support the team in resolving escalated partner issues and turning one-off fixes into documented, repeatable processes.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with comfort building financial models and business cases in Excel.
- A structured approach to problem-solving - able to break down ambiguous business questions into clear frameworks and recommendations.
- Interest or experience in market analysis, competitive research, and go-to-market strategy, ideally in a B2B2C or partnership-driven business.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to turn analysis into a clear, concise recommendation.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint/Slides and Excel; comfort with SQL or other data tools is a plus.
- A real bias to action. You don’t wait to be told.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and effective prioritization in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Base business operations team is responsible for some of the company's highest-leverage outcomes: financing our growth, commercial partnerships, acquisitions and integrations, new market and product entries, and the programs that span too many teams to have a natural owner. It is a set of small teams of generalists who work directly with Base's founders, pick up the problem that matters most, build the structure and analysis it needs, and hand back something that runs itself.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
OUR VALUES
- First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
- Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
- Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
- Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
- Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
- Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
- Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR LIFE AT BASE.
