Product and Operations Intern

About Clasp

We're a team of builders, united by our passion for simplifying the most complex industries. At Clasp, we're on a mission to transform the health insurance industry by modernizing and automating the entire benefits experience.

We started in 2023 backed by investors such as Base10 Partners, Terrain, Conversion Capital, and SemperVirens, firms that have led investments and helped grow companies like Ramp, Rippling, and Blend from the seed stage.

The problem we're solving

Employers collectively spend over a trillion dollars on benefits every year, yet more than 85% of employees find their benefits confusing. This confusion stems from outdated systems and manual processes that lead to errors, delays, and widespread frustration.

Our vision is to create an ecosystem where everyone benefits:

- Brokers eliminate busy work and enhance their advisory roles

- Employers receive a tailored, efficient benefits experience with better coverage and service, often at lower costs

- Employees gain clear, accessible information about their benefits, leading to higher satisfaction and engagement

- Partners like HR and payroll platforms expand their offerings effortlessly with our embeddable solutions

About the role

A business operations internship with product and engineering surface area. You'll sit between ops, product, and engineering.

What you'll do

- Build business cases for new product surfaces, including COBRA, 401k, HSA/FSA, and etc

- Run product sprints: write the requirements doc for a surface area like our enrollment flow through internal and cross functional interviews, then shape roadmap with engineering

- Scope MVPs, including reworking existing ones to fit the customers we have now

- Work with account managers to turn opportunities into real partner adoption

- Find broken or manual workflows, propose a fix, build it, and pitch it

- Build projection models to support prioritization

What we're looking for

- Comfortable in both business and technical conversations

- Proactive: you fix what's broken without waiting to be asked

- Can turn an ambiguous problem into a clear recommendation

- Comfortable in spreadsheets and with messy data

- Some building experience: scripting, automation, SQL, or shipping alongside engineers

Nice to have

- Benefits, insurance, payroll, HR tech, fintech, or healthcare exposure

- Experience scoping work directly with engineers

- Financial modeling experience, though this is a plus rather than a requirement
