  • Under the direction of experienced technical staff, you’ll learn design analysis skills for a variety of traffic engineering design projects for state DOTs and/or local municipalities
  • Projects may include capacity analysis, safety analysis, data collection, signing and pavement marking design, signal and maintenance of traffic design
  • Assist engineers with developing reports that summarize traffic and safety analyses for large interchange projects or urban and rural roadways and intersections
  • Assist engineers with project scoping and final design, such as developing construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications using design tools such as MicroStation and AutoCAD

  • Current undergraduate student in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program and completion of one year coursework required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to learn PDF markup/review tools, such as BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow
  • Availability to work part-time Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 Semesters
  • Availability to work full-time Summer 2027 Semester

Nice to have

  • A strong interest in traffic engineering; previous co-ops are a plus
  • Ability to learn MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil3D drawing software packages, direct experience is a plus

Gain practical experience in transportation engineering focusing on Traffic projects with our team as a Traffic Engineer Co-op. In this role, you'll work alongside early career and experienced engineers to gain an understanding of traffic design and consulting. You'll gain hands-on experience across areas that could include traffic and capacity studies, crash and safety analysis, traffic modeling or traffic control, while developing the technical skills and problem-solving abilities that will create a foundation for your career.

Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 30 – 40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work is the responsibility of the co-op, parking is provided.
