Electrical Engineering Intern, Data Center Infrastructure

Hut 8 brings exceptional people together to solve the world’s most consequential problems at the intersection of energy and technology. Today, that means building infrastructure for AI at a pace and scale without precedent.

Tomorrow, it could mean powering a new era of innovation through robotics, advanced manufacturing, or an industry that does not yet exist. Whatever the technology demands, our ambition holds: to build the defining physical infrastructure company of our generation.

We look for thinkers and builders with the rigor, humility, and ownership to solve problems at this scale. They start from zero and choose truth over tradition.

They back the best idea, whatever its source. They bet on themselves and embrace the hard truths that force them to grow. Our commitment is to keep the path from idea to execution short, trust them with critical decisions and the work that follows, and surround them with colleagues whose curiosity extends beyond their expertise.

BUILT DIFFERENT We believe there's a better way to build. One that moves faster, thinks bigger, and gives people the ownership to challenge what's been done before.

We're not here to follow the standard. We're here to set a new one. We don't believe the best work happens inside rigid boxes. People are given real ownership, real responsibility, and the space to operate beyond a title.

Scope grows with impact and responsibility grows with trust. And the people who step up help shape what comes next. We're building an organization around ownership, where your influence is defined by what you take on.

An internship at Hut 8 provides you with the opportunity to take on real work and drive real outcomes. ABOUT THE ROLE The infrastructure is ambitious.

The people behind it should be too. We’re looking for an Electrical Engineering intern who is curious, asks “why,” and wants to do real engineering work from day one.

You’ll work side by side with our engineers on live data center projects, contribute to designs and studies that actually get built, and leave with work you can point to.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN + Learn it: Get hands-on with the electrical systems behind a data center: utility interconnects, substations, switchgear, generators, UPS, and power distribution + Support it: Help our engineers build one-line diagrams and run short-circuit, arc-flash, and protection coordination studies, with guidance and review from licensed PEs + See it built: Join site visits, follow field issues from question to fix, and watch a design turn into construction, commissioning, and energization + Challenge it: Ask hard questions about cost, constructability, and redundancy.

Fresh eyes are an asset here, and safety and reliability always come first + Own it: Take on a defined project of your own, from first question to final recommendation, and present it to the team at the end of your internship WHAT YOU BRING + Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, such as Power or Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering (electrical/MEP), or Computer, Mechatronics, or Nuclear Engineering with a power systems foundation + Graduating in December 2027 or June 2028 with an undergraduate or graduate degree + Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.

3 + Coursework in circuits, power systems, electromagnetics, or power electronics + Real interest in critical power and data center infrastructure + Comfort with AutoCAD, MATLAB, or Python, and the ability to pick up new engineering software quickly + Track record of personal accountability, integrity, and respect for others, the company, and oneself + Exceptional interpersonal skills to support team cohesion and successful project execution + Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with diverse groups and individuals + Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines, while contributing to inclusive and cooperative teams + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook BUILT FOR THIS If you are curious, hungry to learn, drawn to hard problems, willing to ask “why,” and ready to do real work from week one.

+ You’ve used SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar power-system software in a class or lab + You’ve worked or interned in construction, utilities, or industrial settings, or built something hands-on ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT This role is in office at our corporate headquarters in the Brickell area of Miami, Florida.
