This is not an observational internship. The selected intern will work on live Intellectual Property matters and gain practical exposure to how patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs are managed from receiving client instructions through filing, prosecution, and closure.
Day-to-day responsibilities include: 1. Assist in drafting, filing and prosecution of patent, trademark, copyright and industrial design matters. 2. Create and manage work files, convert client instructions into actionable tasks and track each matter through completion.
3. Monitor statutory and internal deadlines and coordinate with team members to ensure that no critical activity is missed. 4. Maintain IP dockets by recording applications, official communications, deadlines, filings and procedural developments before Indian and foreign IP offices.
5. Prepare e-filing forms, supporting documents and procedural formalities for submission before the Indian Patent Office and other IP authorities. 6.
Verify official IP records and assist in communicating with IP Office officials where procedural clarification or correction of records is required. 7.
Coordinate with clients for information, signatures and formal documents required for completing filings and compliance. 8. Communicate with foreign associates, vendors and consultants to assign work, monitor timelines and facilitate timely completion of international IP matters.
9. Support invoicing, recording of associate bills and follow-up of payments connected with completed IP activities. 10. Contribute to Intellectual Property Law content, marketing initiatives and business-development activities.
11. Help maintain organised, accurate and execution-ready IP files and gradually take ownership of selected matters under professional supervision. By the end of the internship, the candidate should understand the practical lifecycle of IP matters, including prosecution procedures, docketing, deadline management, e-filing, client communication and international coordination.

Candidates should be either a fresh law graduate or pursuing the 3rd–5th year of a five-year integrated LL.B. programme or the 2nd–3rd year of a three-year LL.
B. programme. • 2. Candidates should have a genuine interest in building a career in Intellectual Property Law. Previous experience in patents, trademarks or IP docketing is preferred but not mandatory.
• 3. Candidates must be organised, detail-oriented and capable of monitoring multiple deadlines and following up on pending activities. • 4. Good professional written and verbal communication skills are required.
• 5. Candidates must be available for an onsite, part-time engagement of approximately 25 hours per week from Monday to Saturday, including at least two hours daily between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM.
• 6. Preference will be given to candidates residing or studying within a practical commuting distance of Kothanur, Bengaluru. • 7. Also, special preference shall be given where the candidate has a science educational background at UG or PG level.
