What you'll do

  • You will join the Industrialization team, the group that turns ANYmal from something engineers can build into something a factory can build, test, and release at volume.
  • Sitting directly at the intersection of software and hardware, you will write Python code to interface with physical devices, help define reliable pass/fail criteria for ANYmal subsystems, and deploy test routines to our manufacturing shopfloor.
  • Working alongside Manufacturing Engineers, test technicians, and hardware design teams, you will gain hands-on experience bridging cutting-edge robotics design with scalable industrial production.
  • Develop, test, and help deploy Python-based automated test procedures for ANYmal hardware subsystems
  • Instrument and control hardware devices, sensors, and cameras directly through software interfaces
  • Collaborate with test technicians and manufacturing engineers to refine shopfloor testing workflows

What they want

Required

  • Ongoing or recently completed degree (BSc or MSc) in Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Solid Python programming foundation with experience building projects that interact with hardware, sensors, or external APIs
  • Practical hands-on experience with hardware interfaces through university labs, student projects, or personal builds
  • Structured approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in measurement fundamentals like tolerances and repeatability
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, comfortable explaining technical concepts and drafting structured procedures
  • Proactive mindset with a desire to learn quickly, ask questions early, and work in a hands-on production environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Basic understanding of image processing or computer vision pipelines (OpenCV)
  • Exposure to sensor calibration techniques (IMU, camera intrinsics/extrinsics, depth, or thermal)
  • Familiarity with Docker or devcontainer environments

Full posting

ANYbotics is a fast-growing tech company dedicated to shaping the future of mobile robotics across multiple industries. Join our highly talented and motivated team of more than 190 people and work on cutting-edge robot technology. We are open to internships all year round and post regularly.

We’re always looking for passionate, curious, and motivated interns to join our mission.

This is your chance to collaborate with world-class experts, gain real-world experience, and make meaningful contributions in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.

The Opportunity

You will join the Industrialization team, the group that turns ANYmal from something engineers can build into something a factory can build, test, and release at volume. Every robot that leaves our production line passes through the test systems this team owns. When those tests are effective, quality issues are caught in Zurich before reaching a customer's industrial site. That is the leverage of this role.Sitting directly at the intersection of software and hardware, you will write Python code to interface with physical devices, help define reliable pass/fail criteria for ANYmal subsystems, and deploy test routines to our manufacturing shopfloor. Working alongside Manufacturing Engineers, test technicians, and hardware design teams, you will gain hands-on experience bridging cutting-edge robotics design with scalable industrial production.

The Market & Our Technology

ANYbotics is a fast-growing tech company dedicated to shaping the future of mobile robotics across multiple industries. Founded as an ETH Zurich spin-off, we build autonomous mobile robots (ANYmal) that solve complex inspection tasks in challenging industrial environments such as energy, chemical, and mining facilities. Join our highly talented and motivated team of more than 200 people in Zurich and work on cutting-edge robot technology that is transforming industrial operations globally.

Your Impact

  • Develop, test, and help deploy Python-based automated test procedures for ANYmal hardware subsystems
  • Instrument and control hardware devices, sensors, and cameras directly through software interfaces
  • Collaborate with test technicians and manufacturing engineers to refine shopfloor testing workflows
  • Learn to write clean, resilient, and reproducible code using established software engineering best practices
  • Contribute directly to test documentation and technician procedures to ensure seamless shopfloor execution

Your Profile

  • Based in or willing to relocate to Zurich, with a commitment to regular on-site presence near the hardware and shopfloor

Bonus Points

  • Experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Basic understanding of image processing or computer vision pipelines (OpenCV)
  • Exposure to sensor calibration techniques (IMU, camera intrinsics/extrinsics, depth, or thermal)
  • Familiarity with Docker or devcontainer environments
  • Background in student engineering teams such as Formula Student, Swissloop, or ARIS Rocketry, especially on testing or integration
