Product Research Internship - Summer 2027

The way enterprises access data is fundamentally changing. Organizations are racing to put data to work across analytics and AI, while AI copilots and agents are emerging as an entirely new class of data consumer. Traditional approaches built around tickets, static permissions, and manual approvals were not designed for this speed, scale, or complexity. Immuta provides the authorization layer for modern data and AI. Our platform enables organizations to provision governed access to data by policy, by request, and dynamically for AI agents, so people and AI can access the data they need while enterprises maintain security, compliance, and control. For Chief Data Officers, that means making enterprise data dramatically easier to access and use without giving up governance. For AI leaders, it means giving AI agents secure, governed access to enterprise data so they can move from experimentation into production. Founded in 2015, Immuta is trusted by Fortune 500 companies and government agencies worldwide. • Our technology ecosystem includes Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Okta, ServiceNow, Teradata, Alation, Atlan, and Starburst — connecting Immuta to the data, cloud, identity, and enterprise platforms powering modern data and AI environments. • Immuta has been recognized by Forbes as a top American startup employer, by Inc. Magazine and Built In as one of the best workplaces, and by Fast Company as one of the world’s most innovative companies. • Immuta has raised $263 million from investors including NightDragon, Snowflake, Databricks, ServiceNow, Citi Ventures, Dell Technologies Capital, DFJ Growth, IAG, Intel Capital, March Capital, Okta Ventures, StepStone, Ten Eleven Ventures, and Wipro Ventures. • We operate as a hybrid workplace with offices in Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; and College Park, MD. ABOUT THE TEAM The Product Research team sits at the intersection of theoretical computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and software engineering. The team turns research and algorithms into practical product capabilities that help organizations use data safely and effectively. As a Product Research Intern, you’ll work with research scientists and collaborate with software engineers and other teammates. You’ll help explore how ideas developed in a controlled research setting can be tested, adapted, and applied in the messy, real-world environments where customers use Immuta. The work is research-oriented: you’ll go deep on a problem, understand how an approach works, and help move it from an idea into something practical.

YOUR INTERNSHIP At Immuta, interns are treated like members of the team. You’ll join the team’s regular workflow, contribute to real work, and take on responsibilities that reflect your skills and the team’s priorities. The exact projects will depend on what the team is working on next summer, but you can expect to: • Explore a set of potential research and product projects, then spend meaningful time developing one project related to the team’s work. • Work with research scientists to investigate approaches that could support Immuta product capabilities. • Translate mathematical, statistical, or computational ideas into prototypes, experiments, and functional software. • Apply research methods to practical problems involving data privacy, security, governance, machine learning, algorithms, or text analytics. • Evaluate approaches using data, experiments, measurements, and clear reasoning. • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, product teammates, and others to understand how research can become useful product work. • Communicate your process and findings through documentation, reports, presentations, and conversations with teammates.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES Depending on your role, you may work with: • Python • TypeScript • SQL and databases • Algorithms, statistics, and machine learning methods • Text analytics and classification approaches • APIs and application development workflows • Data analysis, experimentation, and measurement • AI-enabled tools and workflows used by your team You do not need to know every tool listed above. We’re looking for a strong foundation, curiosity, and the ability to learn.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • A strong foundation in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or another quantitative field. • Experience with research, a substantial independent project, or working with a professor is a plus. • Programming experience and interest in applying technical skills to data and research problems. • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain your work clearly. • Curiosity, initiative, and interest in turning research into practical solutions.
