Platform Software Engineering Co-op

Through our nationwide data network, platform, and intelligent workflows, we help providers, value-based care organizations, payers, life sciences, and digital health companies drive business results, strengthen provider trust, and improve operational efficiency.

Founded in 2021 by Jonathan Bush, co-founder and former CEO of athenahealth, Zus is building the foundation for a more connected, precise, and effective healthcare system.

What we’re looking for... We are looking for an eager software engineering co-op to help build the next generation of healthtech tools. This co-op will be part of the Platform team.

This team is responsible for the core transactional and analytical data stores that lie at the heart of all mission-critical data at Zus, the APIs for interacting with them, as well as the complex rules governing access control to patient data.

The engineer joining this team will work on projects that improve the usability, scalability, and performance of the platform, which needs to handle high data throughput and volumes that are constantly growing.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is curious about both high and low-level technical details of data stores and pipelines, enjoys mission-critical challenges and edge cases, and has a strong desire to ensure that patient data is secure and used appropriately.

You will work on APIs, data pipelines, and data stores that operate on large scale data using a variety of AWS services (DynamoDB, S3, EMR, etc) and Snowflake.

You will work with many interconnected services that serve both internal and external users. We write most of our services in Go, but work with many tools and languages for specialized needs (e.

g. TypeScript for UIs, Python for data engineering, Terraform for deployment, and many others). As part of our team, you will... • Roll up your sleeves and build production-ready technology • Collaborate with your colleagues to build high quality solutions that scale You are a good fit because you demonstrate...

• The ability to overcome challenging obstacles independently. • The self-awareness to recognize when outside assistance is needed. • The desire to learn about building software in a professional environment • The willingness to incorporate feedback into your work • The ability to write clean code • A love of solving complex problems • A self-starter attitude that shows that you are ready for the fast, and sometimes unstructured, nature of an early startup.

• Located in the Boston, MA area and willing to join us in the office or regularly meet with a local mentor on a regular basis for collaborative work It would be awesome if you were… • Interested in working with healthcare data and APIs • Able to work on a co-op from January through June We will offer you… • Competitive compensation that reflects the value you bring to the team a combination of cash and equity • Robust benefits that include health insurance, wellness benefits, 401k with a match, unlimited PTO • Opportunity to work alongside a passionate team that is determined to help change the world (and have fun doing it) Please Note: Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don’t apply unless they meet 100% of the job criteria.

While we have worked to consolidate the minimum qualifications for each role, we aren’t looking for someone who checks each box on a page; we’re looking for active learners and people who care about disrupting the current healthcare system with their unique experiences.

We do not conduct interviews by text nor will we send you a job offer unless you've interviewed with multiple people, including the Director of People & Talent, over video interviews.
