Data Science Intern

At QuantCo, applied scientists combine advances in AI with rigorous economic and quantitative thinking to build systems that improve high-stakes decisions.

As a Data Science Intern, you will work on a substantive, well-scoped project connected to our ongoing research and production work. You’ll work day to day with full-time colleagues, tackling problems the team is actively solving and contributing to systems we build for customers.

Experienced scientists and engineers will provide close mentorship throughout the internship, giving you a realistic sense of the full-time role at QuantCo.

Our work combines research and modeling in AI/ML, statistics, and econometrics with hands-on engineering that turns quantitative ideas into reliable production systems.

Intern projects reflect this breadth, with some closer to research and others closer to engineering. Recent intern projects have included: • Developing methods for AI-driven hypothesis generation and interpretable feature discovery from patterns learned by black-box embedding models.

• Quantifying uncertainty in multimodal pricing models. • Building agents that turn unstructured product data into reliable signals. \n We’re looking for: • Strong foundations in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or a related quantitative field.

• Experience programming in Python and working with data. • Coursework, research, or project experience in at least one relevant area, such as machine learning, statistical modeling, econometrics, causal inference, experimental design, or software engineering.

• Current enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program. Research experience, whether academic or applied, is a plus. We place greater weight on quantitative foundations and potential than on prior industry experience or established expertise.

\n What we offer: You’ll join an intellectually curious, interdisciplinary team that thrives on solving difficult problems and developing novel solutions that work in practice.

We care deeply about our customers and build thoughtful products that deliver meaningful impact. You'll work alongside colleagues who take one another’s ideas seriously, challenge each other thoughtfully, and are eager to learn across disciplines.

We offer a generous compensation package that includes base salary, bonus, relocation and housing support along with additional location-based benefits.

We accept internship applications year-round for summer and off-cycle periods. About QuantCo QuantCo is an applied AI company. We build production systems that enable organizations to make and execute better decisions.

Combining modern AI with causal inference, economic modeling, and optimization, we improve outcomes in high-stakes areas like pricing, underwriting, claims, and forecasting.

Our customers include some of the largest insurers, financial institutions, retailers, and healthcare organizations in the US and Europe. We bring together 250+ AI researchers, economists, data scientists, and software engineers to close the gap between what AI can predict and what organizations should do.

Founded by four Harvard and Stanford PhDs and headquartered in Boston, we have offices in Berlin, Cologne, Karlsruhe, London, Munich, San Francisco, and Zurich.
