The Ally Accounting Internship Program seeks to guide and mentor students with development opportunities designed to provide a bridge between the academic world and the world of business with roles in Business Unit and Enterprise Accounting, Tax Accounting, Financial Controls, and so much more.
#LI-DNP Our Accounting Team contributes to Ally’s success by providing accounting and reporting oversight for all of Ally’s business units, enterprise functions, capital markets activities, payroll, and finance shared services.
Our teams are organized to monitor accounting standards and coordinate the implementation of new accounting standards.

 The Work Itself What You Can Expect • Comprehensive onboarding and training • Executive speaker series featuring Ally leaders • Mentorship from expert professionals • Hands-on, significant work experience • Project-based assignments tied to business objectives • Leadership and professional development opportunities • Networking events with peers and colleagues across the organization Program Details • Program Start Date: May 2028 • Program End Date: July 2028 • Format: In-person internship with flexible work arrangements • Schedule: 40 hours per week • Compensation: Competitive hourly pay About the Role As an Accounting Intern, you'll join a team that helps support Ally's financial reporting, accounting operations, and regulatory responsibilities across the organization.
You'll gain exposure to multiple areas of accounting while working on projects that contribute to business and enterprise-wide priorities. During this 11-week internship, you'll strengthen your technical accounting knowledge, build professional communication skills, and develop a deeper understanding of the banking and financial services industry.
Accounting interns have the opportunity to learn about several specialized teams and indicate their areas of interest. Potential placements may include: Business Unit & Enterprise Accounting Support accounting and financial reporting activities across Ally's business lines and enterprise functions, including: • Automotive Finance • Corporate Finance • Ally Invest • Corporate Consolidations • Debt and Capital Markets Tax Accounting, Planning & Reporting Work alongside tax professionals to: • Prepare tax provisions and related disclosures • Forecast tax expenses and related components • Assist with tax return preparation and filing • Analyze the impact of current and proposed tax legislation Financial Controls Support activities that help strengthen Ally's control environment by: • Assisting with the planning and execution of internal control testing • Supporting the governance and review of account reconciliations • Helping identify and resolve internal control issues Financial Reporting Contribute to financial reporting processes by: • Assisting with reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K • Supporting regulatory and industry reporting requirements • Collaborating with internal teams and external auditors What You'll Bring Required Qualifications • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree and entering your senior year, or pursuing a Master of Accounting degree during the internship period, in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Rising juniors may also be considered. • Interest in pursuing Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification. • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. • Availability to participate in the full internship program. • Ability to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

 Base Pay Range $25.00 - $33.00
 An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications.
