The internship will be onsite at Axiom Space in Houston, Texas from January 25 to April 16. Interns are responsible for arranging their own transportation and accommodations.
Position Summary Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a passionate, high-energy Electrical Engineering Intern who is eager to learn from and be mentored by experienced electrical engineers.
This role supports foundational electrical design, laboratory testing, and technical documentation across Axiom's spaceflight hardware programs, with assignments that may include avionics, embedded systems, station electrical systems, or vehicle programs such as the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), depending on program need.
The role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, along with a genuine curiosity for how electrical and electronic systems are designed, built, and tested.
This is a temporary, project-based internship supporting an active engineering team. Key Duties & Responsibilities • Support schematic capture and PCB layout for an assigned component or subsystem, under the mentorship of experienced engineers • Conduct lab testing and measurements to support hardware evaluation • Assist in test procedure development and execution • Support hardware debug activities under guidance • Document test results and maintain engineering notebooks • Apply electrical engineering standards to assigned tasks • Support analysis and simulation of physical systems to help predict performance and identify potential issues • Depending on assignment, may support embedded system design tasks, PCB routing, or high-frequency signal routing • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, mechanical) to support project objectives • Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership • Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle • Perform additional job duties as assigned Education & Experience: • Rising Junior, Senior, or Graduate student (MS/MA or Ph.
D.) pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher • Coursework in circuit theory, analog/digital electronics, or PCB design • Exposure to electrical design or simulation tools (e.
g., Altium, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE) through coursework or personal projects • Familiarity with basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters) preferred • Prior internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience (e.

Requirements • This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access.
