Baptist Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist Intern to join our Surgical Services Team at Baptist Medical Center Downtown. This is a full-time career development opportunity designed for individuals pursuing a career as a Surgical Technologist.

This role focuses on gaining the knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete the program and transition into the Surgical Technologist role. The intern develops hands-on skills while following hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.

As part of their professional training, the intern learns to assist the surgical team in preparing operating rooms, maintaining a sterile field, and supporting safe and efficient surgical procedures under the supervision of experienced Surgical Technologists and clinical staff. Supervised responsibilities may include:

• Preparing instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
• Assisting with surgical counts.
• Maintaining sterile technique and the sterile field.
• Learning to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Ensuring equipment is properly handled and available.
• Supporting safe and efficient operating room procedures.

Experience requirements

No prior Surgical Technologist experience required.

Education & credential requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet eligibility requirements for the Baptist Health Surgical Technologist training program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required or must be obtained as required by the program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is not required for this internship.
