00 - $20.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.) About This J ob Commerce’s Legal Department is hiring an intern for Summer 2027 to learn more about the in-house legal work we do within Commerce Bank.

You will support the Legal team in various project work, research, drafting, and shadowing opportunities across a range of legal topics. You will also have an opportunity to meet other interns through participation in Commerce’s Internship Program.

Consider applying if you are interested in learning more about the functions of an in-house legal team in a heavily regulated industry. The summer internship session will begin on Tuesday, May 18, 2027 , and will run for 11 weeks , ending on Friday, July 30, 2027 .

Internships are paid, full-time opportunities  with a Monday through Friday  work schedule. *Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Essential Functions • Perform legal research and draft memorandum on a wide range of topics, including, banking, information technology, employment, and corporate governance • Review and summarize regulatory updates and guidance • Review department procedures and analyze for process improvements • Develop and implement procedural updates, as necessary • Participate in meetings with CBI Legal and business stakeholders • Review, draft and edit contract and other agreement templates • Review CBI Intellectual Property • Work with supervising attorneys supporting a variety of Bank lines of business • Report regularly on project progress • Capstone project and end of summer presentation with other interns in the Commerce Internship Program • Perform other duties as assigned Work Schedule • Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm • Mostly onsite Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required • Ability to conduct thorough and accurate legal research using various resources, including statutes and regulations • Curious by nature • Critical thinker with strong attention to detail • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality • Strong time management skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain adaptable and resilient • Motivated and organized self-starter who can work independently • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills • Optimistic outlook with a positive shadow aligned with our culture and Core Values • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.

Education & Experience • Currently enrolled law student in accredited degree program ***For individuals applying, assigned and/or hired to work in areas with pay transparency requirements, Commerce is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for some roles.

This compensation range is for the Intern job. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable differentials (geographic, bilingual, or shift) that could be associated with the position or where it is filled.

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $20.00 per hour. #LI-SN1 Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
