The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours. **Please include your GPA on your resume** The Clinical Informatics Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the coordination, integration, and analysis of clinical processes across Cone Health using clinical information technology, workflow design, and evidence-based practices.
This internship provides exposure to healthcare technology systems, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient care, safety, and operational effectiveness.
The intern will collaborate with clinical, operational, and IT teams to support projects that improve the care experience for patients, providers, and team members.
Essential Job Function: • Support informatics initiatives within a designated department or service line. • Assist with adoption and optimization of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Participate in workflow analysis, process mapping, and documentation of clinical requirements. • Assist in translating clinical needs into functional specifications for IT teams.
• Observe and contribute to clinical and operational improvement meetings and governance processes. • Support safety initiatives and learn risk-mitigation practices within healthcare technology systems.
• Assist in maintaining knowledge base articles, training materials, and procedural documentation. • Shadow informatics professionals serving as liaisons between clinicians and information systems leadership.
• Contribute to change management efforts and assist with educational content development and training support. • Participate in quality improvement or IT methodology initiatives (e.
g., Agile, LEAN). • Perform other learning-related duties and special projects as assigned. Education: • Required: Must be in process of a college-level degree in a related field and a student in good standing.
• Master’s level students preferred , particularly those pursuing degrees in: • Healthcare Administration • Health Informatics • Public Health • Nursing • Healthcare Management • Business Administration (MBA with healthcare focus) • Information Systems or related technical fields • Undergraduate students may be considered if they are classified as Junior or Senior .
