Job description

IT Sourcing and Vendor Management Intern – Summer 2027

Location: Wallingford, CT or Indianapolis, IN

This role requires associates to be in-office 5 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance.

The IT Sourcing and Vendor Management Intern will gain experience supporting technology sourcing and strategic supplier relationship management. The intern will contribute across the IT supplier lifecycle, including market research, competitive sourcing, supplier evaluation and selection, contract support, performance and risk monitoring, data analysis, issue resolution, and process improvement. Working with business leaders and technology suppliers, the intern will apply analytics, automation, AI, and problem-solving skills to support efficient, compliant procurement operations within a complex Fortune 20 healthcare organization.

This is a business-focused sourcing and vendor management internship. The role does not involve software development, programming, IT support, or engineering responsibilities.

This position is a full-time, 12-week paid internship ( Monday May 17th, 2027 – Friday August 6th, 2027) program in alignment with our Enterprise-wide Summer Internship program.

How you will make an impact depending on your placement within the Procurement organization:

· Support request for proposal (RFP) development, supplier evaluations, and results analysis.

· Learn the basics of negotiating deals with external suppliers.

· Advance process automation and continuous-improvement initiatives using AI and emerging technologies where appropriate.

· Analyze supply chain data to uncover trends and actionable insights that inform business decisions.

· Partner with Procurement Finance on invoice auditing, contract negotiations, and related analytical projects.

· Document current business processes and workflows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.

· Collaborate with internal stakeholders, business leaders, and external suppliers to support strategic supplier relationship management and advance project objectives.

· Evaluate supplier-risk, business-continuity, and operational-resilience data to support due diligence and identify gaps or exceptions.

· Monitor supplier issues and remediation plans, and communicate status, dependencies, and key risks through clear leadership reporting.

· Create dashboards and visualizations that improve visibility into performance and key metrics.

Minimum requirements

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is 18.92 to 27.03 an hour
