Requirements and eligibility
- Ideal candidates are undergraduate or graduate level students pursuing a degree in business, finance, risk management, economics, engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Interns will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management.

- Familiarity with risk management concepts or frameworks (for example, , COSO ERM) is a plus, not required

Job Description The ERCOT Internship Program allows college students the opportunity to develop their skills in a technical and high-paced, professional work environment.
Interns receive assignments and projects that aim to solve real challenges facing the electric industry. The internship program also allows students to experience working alongside ERCOT employees and being part of a team.
Throughout the internship, ERCOT leaders are able to evaluate each individual interns' capabilities and compatibility with ERCOT's mission, vision and values.
This summer internship will support ERCOT's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team in identifying, documenting, and analyzing key risks that could impact the organization's strategic and operational objectives.
The intern will assist with ongoing risk assessments, support analysis and risk quantification efforts used by leadership for risk-informed decisions and assist with tracking mitigation activities across business units.
The role will also be involved with researching industry and regulatory trends relevant to grid operations. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to enterprise risk management within a critical infrastructure organization.
Potential projects may include: • Emerging Risks & Horizon Scanning – Grid and Energy Transition: Research and evaluate emerging risks associated with changes in the electric industry and energy landscape.
• Key Risk Indicator (KRI) Development: Support the development and analysis of KRIs, potentially focusing on COO metrics or another ERCOT business unit.
• Wildfire Risk Analysis: Research and analyze wildfire-related risks and their potential impact on ERCOT. • Third-Party Risk Management: Identify opportunities to maximize the use of the Exiger Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) tool to support risk identification and monitoring.
• AI Techniques for Enterprise Risk Management: Explore potential applications of artificial intelligence and emerging AI techniques to support ERM activities.
Desired Educational Level: • Ideal candidates are undergraduate or graduate level students pursuing a degree in business, finance, risk management, economics, engineering, or a related field.
Required Skills: • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills • Basic proficiency in Excel spreadsheets and data analysis techniques • Clear written and verbal communication skills • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Basic research skills for tracking industry and risk management trends • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) for reports and presentations • Team-oriented with willingness to learn in a collaborative environment • Familiarity with risk management concepts or frameworks (e.

This is a full-time internship for the Summer of 2027. The program will run from the start of June through the second week of August.
