Job Description: Job Title : Human Resources Intern Department: Human Resources FLSA: Non-Exempt General Function : The Human Resources Intern provides assistance with and facilitates the human resources process in the corporate office in West Des Moines.
Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service to employees. Will work with current employees to ensuring plans are administered in accordance with company, federal, and state regulations.
This role provides administrative support to human resources function as needed including record keeping and file maintenance. Reporting Relations: Accountable and Reports to: Director, Human Resources Positions that Report to you: None Primary Duties and Responsibilities : • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all employee interactions.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment. • Assists in the inputting, changing, and deleting of employee information in the workforce management system (time and attendance).
• Helps with the onboarding process including new hire orientation and creating employee files. • Assists with processing of terminations. • Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files.
• Conducts tours of facility for schools and civic organizations. • Provides management with standard reports. • Completes employment verifications. • Assists with gathering the information for Subpoenas and submitting to legal.
• Adheres to company policies and individual facility guidelines. • Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
• Coordinates or assists with events. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Actively pursuing an associates or bachelors degree preferred. Competencies: • Commitment to the Hy-Vee Mission and a willingness to promote the values of the company • Must possess the ability to interview, counsel or advise people; evaluate data, compose correspondence • Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interprets instructions • Must be able to perform arithmetic and calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages • This position requires strong computer and analytical skills.
The person must also have strong verbal and written communication skills and be extremely detailed oriented. The person must be well organized and capable of multi-tasking simultaneously Physical Requirements: • Must be physically able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and color vision, and field of vision.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions : This position frequently involves a fast work pace in an office setting. Must be able to handle multiple jobs/situations every day.
Equipment Used to Perform Job: Computer, Workday, Workforce Management, Microsoft Word, Outlook, calculator, phone, fax, copier. Contacts: Has daily contact with employees; Occasional contact with suppliers/vendors Confidentiality : Has access to confidential information including employee records and wages.
