What you'll do

  • As a Strategy and Operations Intern, you will join the Immunology Portfolio and Asset Management team and help advance business, operational, and clinical excellence across Immunology.
  • Working with an assigned mentor and colleagues across scientific and operational functions, you will contribute to projects involving portfolio planning, budget and outsourcing strategy, data management, and organizational communications.
  • You will complete a defined project and present your work at the organization-wide Summer Intern Research Symposium.
  • Collaborating with physicians, scientists, and operational partners to gather, organize, and synthesize information for project deliverables and leadership communications.
  • Analyzing clinical, operational, financial, or portfolio data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and recommend next steps.
  • Developing clear presentations, dashboards, summaries, SharePoint, and other communication materials that support alignment and decision-making.

  • Must remain enrolled and in good standing in an accredited college or university program throughout the internship and must not graduate before or during the program.
  • Undergraduate students who will have completed at least four semesters by the program start date, as well as eligible graduate students, may apply.
  • Graduate students must be pursuing a master’s degree, PharmD, Physician Assistant degree, PhD, or another clinical- or science-related degree.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in biology, cell or molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, public health, nursing, pre-medicine, clinical pharmacology, clinical or translational research, computational biology, precision medicine, or a related field.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week. For non-laboratory roles, the current hybrid model requires onsite work three days per week and allows remote work two days per week.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills, with close attention to detail.

Nice to have

  • Experience with data visualization, coding, automation, or artificial intelligence tools is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership or participation in campus, community, or service organizations is preferred.

Immunology internship program overview

The Johnson & Johnson Immunology Internship Program offers a full-time, immersive learning experience within Immunology Therapeutic Area Research and Development. Interns contribute to meaningful projects, engage with leaders and colleagues across functions, and build practical skills through structured learning, mentorship, and exposure to the drug development process. The program is designed to foster professional growth while giving interns an opportunity to support innovative immunology research and clinical development.

Designed to cultivate the next generation of talent, the program helps interns develop scientific, technical, and professional capabilities while exploring career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. The internship spans approximately three months, from May 17 through August 6, 2027 . The position is located in Spring House, PA.

Job description

As a Strategy and Operations Intern, you will join the Immunology Portfolio and Asset Management team and help advance business, operational, and clinical excellence across Immunology. Working with an assigned mentor and colleagues across scientific and operational functions, you will contribute to projects involving portfolio planning, budget and outsourcing strategy, data management, and organizational communications. This role is designed for a highly organized and analytical student who communicates clearly, learns quickly, and enjoys translating complex information into practical insights and recommendations. You will complete a defined project and present your work at the organization-wide Summer Intern Research Symposium.

You could be responsible for

  • Collaborating with physicians, scientists, and operational partners to gather, organize, and synthesize information for project deliverables and leadership communications.
  • Analyzing clinical, operational, financial, or portfolio data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and recommend next steps.
  • Developing clear presentations, dashboards, summaries, SharePoint, and other communication materials that support alignment and decision-making.
  • Supporting portfolio-management, budget-planning, and outsourcing initiatives, as assigned.
  • Applying data-management best practices to improve information quality, traceability, and readiness for digital tools and systems.
  • Participating in team and cross-functional meetings, documenting decisions and actions, and following through on assigned deliverables.
  • Preparing and presenting an abstract or poster at the Summer Intern Research Symposium and supporting additional projects as assigned.
