Job Description Position Overview : This internship will offer a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in our Swine and Animal Nutrition division, working closely with experienced professionals.
This internship will be tailored to the interest and experience level of the candidate to maximize learning while contributing to the success of the company.
This specialized internship will provide real world working experience culminating in a capstone project that will be presented to senior leadership at the end of the internship.
Duties and Responsibilities : Include but are not limited to: • Develop understanding of swine operations management and systems on a large production scale including sow farms, wean to finish operations, and feed manufacturing.
• Learn to identify, diagnose and treat common health challenges in production swine. • Wean pig start up- play a huge role in the most vital stage of a pig’s life, administer treatments, and swine necropsy.
• Work and interact with current and new growers. • Develop communication and interpersonal skills while working with different growers. • Gain relationship building and management techniques.
• Experience all aspects of what it takes to successfully run a production swine operation. • Learn from and work with industry professionals including Production Supervisor, Feed Mill Manager, Feed Logistics Coordinator, and/or Grain Merchandiser.
Skills and Qualifications : • Possess exceptional organizational and communication skills. • Strong work ethic; able to work independently and follow directions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle. • Ability to use Microsoft apps and programs. Education and Experience: • Currently enrolled in accredited college or university.
