What you'll do
- The Commercial Banking Intern will support the St. Louis Commercial Banking team with research, analysis, and special projects while gaining broad exposure to commercial lending, relationship management, and the banking industry.
- Conduct competitive market analysis using internal and external information to support the Commercial Banking team and the Bank's growth initiatives.
- Assist with data mining, data cleansing, and related analysis that supports business development and market growth efforts.
- Support special projects and provide a fresh perspective on opportunities that may benefit the Commercial Banking team and broader organization.
- Gain exposure to commercial credit structuring and underwriting, business development and relationship management, Treasury and deposit solutions, retail transactions and operations, and risk and compliance.
- Attend Commercial Banking team meetings and accompany team members on external calls, as appropriate, to observe relationship management and business development in practice.

Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. Position Summary

Primary Accountabilities
- Conduct competitive market analysis using internal and external information to support the Commercial Banking team and the Bank's growth initiatives.
- Assist with data mining, data cleansing, and related analysis that supports business development and market growth efforts.
- Support special projects and provide a fresh perspective on opportunities that may benefit the Commercial Banking team and broader organization.
- Gain exposure to commercial credit structuring and underwriting, business development and relationship management, Treasury and deposit solutions, retail transactions and operations, and risk and compliance.
- Attend Commercial Banking team meetings and accompany team members on external calls, as appropriate, to observe relationship management and business development in practice.
- Engage with professionals across Commercial Banking and other areas of the Bank to build foundational knowledge of Midland's culture, strategy, goals, and banking fundamentals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Position Qualifications
Education/experience
- The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
- Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Must reside local to the St. Louis, MO area and report to the St. Louis office.
- Enrolled in a degree program at a college or university with at least 2 years completed. Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration coursework is preferred; Data Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Sales coursework may also be relevant.
- Works well in team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
- Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
- Demonstrated leadership and/or community involvement.
- Ability to articulate a specific interest in banking and commercial banking.
