IT Systems Management Intern

Job Responsibilities & Requirements Summary This internship gives an early-career candidate a supervised, hands-on introduction to modern enterprise device management, the systems and processes that keep the company's laptops, tablets, and other endpoints secure, consistent, and up to date.

Over eight weeks, the intern first learns the environment by documenting it, then builds a small set of automated tools that help the IT team detect and fix common device issues before they affect employees.

The role is intentionally structured as a learning experience with a safety-first progression. The intern spends the early weeks in observation and documentation and only takes hands-on action later, under senior review at every step.

The work produces lasting value for the team through improved documentation of our environment and reusable automation while giving the intern practical, resume-building experience in a high-demand technical field.

What the Intern Will Do • Learn the company's device management environment and document how it is configured today. • Identify recurring, common device issues alongside the IT team.

• Build and test a small library of automated tools that detect and resolve those issues while working within controlled, supervised guardrails. • Create clear documentation and templates so the team can continue and expand the work after the internship ends.

• Present their work and findings to the team at the conclusion of the internship. What the Intern Will Gain • Practical experience with industry-standard enterprise IT and cloud management tools.

• Foundational skills in automation and scripting that transfer across the IT field. • Exposure to real-world IT operations, change control, and professional documentation practices.

• Mentorship from experienced IT staff and a tangible portfolio of completed work. Ideal Candidate • Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in information technology, computer science, or a related field.

• Basic familiarity with Windows environments; some exposure to scripting (e.g., PowerShell) is a plus but not required. • Detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable documenting their work.

• Able to follow defined processes and take direction, with a genuine interest in learning enterprise IT. Why This Role Is a Good Investment The internship delivers real, retained value to the IT team through better documentation and reusable automation rather than creating temporary work.

It builds a potential future talent pipeline in a hard-to-hire technical area, and its supervised, low-risk structure makes it a safe and productive first professional experience for an entry-level candidate.

Physical Demands This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role.
