Come explore Novanta. Job Summary The Mechatronics Engineering Intern supports internal mechatronic activities related to tooling development, mechanical design, manufacturing, and prototyping.
The intern contributes to the implementation and validation of mechanical assemblies and tooling equipment while generating and maintaining technical documentation.
This position provides hands-on experience applying mechanical engineering principles using CAD tools, manufacturing equipment, and laboratory testing methods.
Job Description (primary responsibilities) • Supporting the design and development of mechanical components, tooling equipment, fixtures, and prototype systems using 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
• Performing hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of electromechanical systems, prototypes, and internal tooling. • Executing validation and verification activities, including tolerance analysis, form-fit-function evaluations, and performance testing.
• Creating and maintaining engineering documentation, including assembly instructions, drawings, test reports, and bills of materials. • Collaborating with a cross-functional engineering team to support project objectives and provide data-driven recommendations.

• Working collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision is crucial for effective teamwork. • Possess strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
