Sentara Health is seeking a motivated Process Improvement Engineer Intern to join our team at Sentara Park . This internship provides hands-on experience supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Working closely with experienced leaders and team members, the intern will assist with process analysis, workflow optimization, data collection, and improvement projects that enhance efficiency, quality, and service delivery.

This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field who is interested in applying Lean, process improvement, data analysis, and problem-solving skills within a dynamic healthcare environment. The intern will gain valuable exposure to healthcare operations while contributing to meaningful projects that support Sentara's mission of improving health every day.

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering (Preferred)
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program
  • Active military service member pursuing a SkillBridge internship may also be considered

Certification/Licensure

  • No specific certification or licensure requirements

Experience

  • Interest in process improvement, operational excellence, Lean methodologies, or performance improvement initiatives
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present data effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $19.70 - $19.70 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
