Estimating Intern

Job Description Summary/Objective An integral team member who assists estimators in preparing construction project bids and budgets. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Support the estimating team with the following tasks: • Basic Plan Reading • Quantity Takeoff • Evaluate Subcontractor and Vendor Quotes • Evaluate Historical Production and Cost Data • Project Budget and Cost Tracking • Attend Prebid / Owner's Meetings • Project Site Visits • Attend Project Bid Reviews Competencies • Positive attitude towards learning and professional development.

• Ethical conduct. • Ability to effectively communicate • Strong organizational and planning abilities. • Time management. • Teamwork-oriented. • Multi-tasking Supervisory Requirements This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment Employee will assist with construction estimates and budgets for heavy civil and highway projects.  This position is typically sitting at our main office in Jacksonville, FL.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The incumbent regularly sits for long periods of time at a desk in front of a computer screen. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time nonexempt position.

Travel The role requires no travel. Required Education and Experience • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in construction, Engineering, or other relevant fields of study.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) before participation in the internship program.

Preferred Education • Knowledge of general construction practices. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel.
