## What UTern is now

UTern is not merely a job board with a swipe deck. The deck is one way to browse a much larger live catalog, but the product centers on understanding a student. Bob combines the student's stated goals with evidence from work they have already done. He helps make resume wording clear and specific without adding qualifications, then prepares an editable work story the student controls. With explicit consent, Barb gives a recruiter a short explanation of why that person is worth interviewing, what they want next, and which questions are still worth asking.

UTern does not auto-submit applications, sell student data, or share a student's private drafts with employers. The student reviews what Bob writes and chooses what leaves their workspace.

## Common questions

**When should I apply for summer internships?** Earlier than most students expect. Many large programs open in August and September for the following summer, and finance and consulting often recruit a year ahead. Smaller employers post through the spring, so there is no single deadline.

**Can I get an internship with no formal experience?** Yes. Coursework, projects, student organizations, volunteering, and other completed work can show how you think and what you have done. UTern helps describe that work accurately; it does not invent experience.

**Does UTern apply automatically?** No. Bob can prepare materials and Apply Mode can fill supported forms, but the student reviews the application and presses submit.

**Does UTern test students?** UTern's Talent Signal is built around evidence from real work and the student's stated intent, not a generic pass-or-fail skills test.

**What does a recruiter see?** Only information the student has chosen to share: a concise reason to interview, relevant work stories and sources, what the student wants next, and useful follow-up questions.

**Are internships paid?** Many are, and UTern shows the pay when the employer states it. Students can set a pay target and see how each role compares.
