2027 Summer News Internship - Data Reporter

As a data reporting intern, you will assist in producing data-driven reporting projects on legal, tax, and government topics. You will have a role in using routine data in daily stories as well as long-term projects.

You must have prior training or experience in data journalism. What you will do: • Hands-On Work Experience – Perform real work on deadline as a member of our team and walk away with clips to add to your portfolio.

• Learn to work with the sense of urgency and accuracy needed in a modern newsroom. • Receive essential feedback and coaching from a mentor just as invested in your success as you are.

You need to have: • Examples of data journalism you have worked on. Do not submit with your application. We will ask for them during initial screening.

• Experience with Excel or Google Sheets is required. Experience with R or Python is preferred. • A drive to produce great reporting. • Willingness to collaborate with our team of reporters and editors.

• At the start of Summer 2027, have completed at least three years of an undergraduate program (i.e., a rising senior), have just graduated from your college or university, or be enrolled in a graduate journalism program.

• Prior training or experience in data journalism. • Ability to work within a team under deadline pressure. Your application must be submitted by Friday, Oct.
