For hiring teams

Every step of hiring with UTern

Six short videos, under two minutes in all. Recorded in the demo workspace, so the names and counts are sample data.

  1. Step 1 · 17 seconds

    Post a role with Birdee

Tell Birdee who you need in one line. Posting a role costs $0.

    Transcript
    • The workspace opens on Birdee's chat.
    • The recruiter types: "We're 20 people and need a marketing intern for our app launch."
    • The Seats tab shows the same start: tell Birdee about the role, or use the form.
    Narration script

Everything starts with one sentence. Tell Birdee who you need, the way you'd tell a colleague. Birdee asks the few questions that matter and drafts the role with you. Posting it costs nothing. You only pay if you hire.

  2. Step 2 · 15 seconds

    Scope the project

Birdee turns the role into a ten week scope you can edit.

    Transcript
    • The Scope tab lists starting templates: content, growth experiments and more.
    • Choosing Growth experiments opens a scope: the outcome, weekly milestones, skills and mentor time.
    • The recruiter scrolls through the milestones and back to the top.
    Narration script

Next, the scope. Birdee writes what the intern should get done in ten weeks: the outcome, a goal for each week, the skills, and how much of your time it needs. Change anything. Birdee reads every student against this page, so it's worth two minutes.

  3. Step 3 · 15 seconds

    See who said yes

Birdee finds students who fit. Each one says yes before you see them.

    Transcript
    • The Seats tab lists the role. Opening it shows its terms, "$0 to post · $750 when you hire", and the funnel: found, invited, said yes, eligible, scored blind, names (demo data).
    • Below, the five names sent to the company, each with a score against the scope.
    • The line "Race, gender, age and photo are never in the room" sits over the list.
    Narration script

While you work, Birdee looks on UTern and the open web for students whose work fits the scope, and asks each one. You only ever see students who already said yes. Every score is against your scope, with no name, photo or school rank in the room.

  4. Step 4 · 19 seconds

    Review a record

Open a record: what was checked, and what the student only told us.

    Transcript
    • The recruiter opens the first name's record.
    • It shows the score breakdown, eligibility (enrolled), qualifications with where each was found, and what was proven on UTern.
    • Checked facts and claimed ones are labeled apart.
    Narration script

Open any name to see the record. Eligibility is checked: enrolled, of age, authorized. Skills show where they came from, and anything the student only claimed is labeled as a claim. You read evidence, not a pile of resumes.

  5. Step 5 · 20 seconds

    Interview and hire

Pick who to meet, set the stage, and record the hire. You pay only then.

    Transcript
    • The intros panel: pick names, offer up to three times, and UTern introduces both sides.
    • On a record, the stage buttons: We hired them, Interviewing, Offer out, Pass.
    • Pressing We hired them asks you to confirm and names the fee for that hire first.
    Narration script

Pick who you want to meet and offer a few times. UTern introduces you both by email, and the interview is yours. When you hire someone, mark it here. That's the only moment you pay: seven fifty for your first hire, less for the ones after.

  6. Step 6 · 13 seconds

    Intern check-ins

After the hire: assign work, and see each task and check-in in one place.

    Transcript
    • The Interns tab: active tasks, one awaiting review, one completed (demo data).
    • The recruiter scrolls to the task list and opens a task brief: the outcome, why it matters, the definition of done and UTern's work plan.
    • The intern's own experience notes stay private unless the intern shares them.
    Narration script

After the hire, the scope becomes the work. Assign a task and Birdee sharpens the brief with you: the outcome, why it matters, what done looks like. Your intern checks in on each task, and anything waiting on you is flagged at the top.

$0 to post. $750 when you hire, less after that.
