Our mission

Internships shouldn't feel like spam.

We applied to 80+ internships in one semester and got callbacks from three. That's when we stopped filtering and started swiping.

The problem

The search punishes the people doing it.

You scroll for an hour. You apply. You hear nothing. You do it again. The advice is always the same: cast wide, apply to everything, hope something sticks. The result is a week of your life spent on cover letters for roles you were never right for.

UTern flips the order. Instead of forcing students to filter, sort, and re-read job descriptions, we give them a deck. Right swipe to save. Left to pass. Up to apply. The algorithm watches, learns, and surfaces the next best match. Fifty cards in, the deck knows you better than any keyword search ever could.

We write the cover letter. We prep the mock interview. We draft the cold message. But we never auto-submit anything — every application is yours to send. UTern is the matchmaker. You're still the one showing up.

What we believe

Three things we won't compromise on.

Honesty over hype

The match score shows your real odds. We never inflate it to keep you swiping.

You stay in control

We write the cover letter. You decide to send it. Nothing leaves your hands without your say.

Smarter, not noisier

After 50 swipes, fewer cards — better fits. The goal is less time searching, not more.

Who we are

Two students. One problem. One product.
